Well, it’s been six months since I’ve posted anything here, and even when I was posting, there were not many posts of substance.  It was fun posting/embedding video, but I think it’s time to add more readable content here.  Going forward, I’m hoping to have one meaningful post per week, plus the usual array of links and videos.  Stay tuned…

Just in case you are interested, this site is built on Wordpress.  Wordpress is one of the most powerful content management systems in use on the Internet today, and best of all, its free and open source.  I’m just too lazy to put the time and effort into developing my own blogging engine, when someone else has done it for me.  I do know people who have done this – my friend Dave over at the Converse Chronicles developed the entire site from scratch himself.

The theme of this site is “Journalist”, by Lucian E. Marin.  I love the simple interface.  I’m not a fan of a lot of graphics on a page unless it is photos or videos posted along with an article.  Once change to the CSS I did make was the default typeface.  By default the site uses Lucida based san-serif fonts.  My personal preference for a site like this is a serif based font.  I’ve decided to go with a default font of Constantia, a new typeface that was recently released by Microsoft with Vista, Office 2007 and Office 2008 for Mac.  Many of you many not have this font, so in descending order, the font defaults to Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, and, if no other options are available, the default “serif” font is used to render the site.

The wordpress plug-in ecosystem is rather powerful.  I’ve already installed plug-ins that allow me to connect my posts at tedaugust.com to both Twitter and Facebook.  For example, when ever I post here on tedaugust.com, I’ll be able to send a tweet out to my followers automatically.  Also, any post I make here can be optionally be posted to my profile at Facebook.

I’d like to welcome you to tedaugust.com.  You may have been acquainted with my old web site theworldofrizz.net, which was neglected for several years.  A lot of people didn’t even know that Rizzo was my nickname, so I hope tedaugust.com will get more traffic because it’s just my name.

I hope to be using tedaugust.com not only for blogging, but for uploading photos as well.  I hope I have the time and the energy to put more content here on the site.  I was never able to get into a groove on the old site.  Perhaps I’ll do more linking to other articles on the Internet to keep me in the habit of posting regularly.
